Simone Pitot Bio

‘A future star – pure and simple’ (Scene Magazine)

Inspired by graphic novels, darkened internet worlds and antique suitcases, singer/songwriter Simone Pitot created the six tracks of her debut, self-titled EP under the watchful eye of renowned producer, Caleb James (Yves Klein Blue, Rhubarb), during the Young Artist Mentorship Program (YAMP). The towering hymns, 50’s old-timer country shiners and dark electronica creates a world where one finds ‘UFOs droning over lakes’ alongside ‘housewives in sun dresses …exploding out into their lawns in saturated day-glo technicolour’. All in all, the ideas and images combine to form an articulate collection of well-crafted songs.

Simone Pitot’s self-titled Debut EP “is, at turns, heartbreaking and hilarious, intelligent and complicated, sinister and sweet, and finds vintage instruments colliding with synth beats. Though Simone was never going to write an angst-ridden document of tragedy and despair, what’s most surprising about the EP is its unapologetic optimism. All of this makes for a complex pop record, announcing the sounds of a new, original and unmistakable artist.” (Benjamin Law).

Simone Pitot performs with The Albums, an ensemble of talented gentlemen fusing old country sounds of a banjo, mandolin and fiddle (George Jackson), with a laptop (Ryan Murray) and strange sounds (Matthew Colin). Simone is said to ‘create an aura with her live show that cannot be matched’ (Press Record Magazine).
